Official Programming B-Retina 7

Last Friday, July 8, the organization of the Cornellà B Retina Series B Film Festival made public the official program confirmed to date in an event held at the emblematic Castle of Cornellà.

Sabina Pujol and Òscar Lladó, in charge of the festival’s programming department, were the masters of ceremony in charge of presenting the official poster and the new official spot of the seventh edition (See Spot), followed by the announcement of the titles confirmed to date.

The event ended with a musical performance by The Barroom Buddies Band, accompanied by refreshments of hot dogs and a nice cold beer, courtesy of our official sponsor Golden Promise Brewing.

The free double opening session on September 13, will be in charge of the Catalan premier Lagunas, la guarida del Diablo the Marc Carreté (2022) (View Trailer) and the well-known Vampire’s Kiss the Robert Bierman (1988) (View Trailer), the first film included in the series dedicated to Nicolas Cage.

Until Thursday, September 15, the double sessions will continue with free admission, which will include a title starring our idol Nicolas Cage in each of them, such as The Wicker Man the Neil LaBute (2006) (View Trailer) or also the live recording of podcasts hosted by This Podcast Is Canon and Estamos Vivas (Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15, respectively).

On September 16, we will have the presentation of the successful book Las 100 primeras películas de Nicolas Cage de Paco Alcázar y Torïo García (2021, Editorial Astiberri) by its authors, at the Pati Blau bookstore in Cornellà de Llobregat.

Free Activity

And on Friday, September 16, the festival will begin in its physical format with titles within its Official Selection as remarkable as:

HOUSEWIFE ALIEN VS GAY ZOMBIE the Andreas Samuelson (2017)

National Premiere View Trailer

Its director took three years to complete this comedy with alien wives and gay zombies, full of winks to genre fans and delirious dialogues.

THE STYLISTthe Jill Gevargizian (2020) View Trailer

Debut of filmmaker Jill Gevargizian where she recovers the story of her 2016 short film with the same title, and her own experience as a hairdresser, to expand the torment of her protagonist: hairdresser by day… scalp collector by night.

BLACK MADONNAthe Adrià Torres and Gerard Capmany (2022)

National Premiere View Trailer

Like a true crime mockumentary, the debut of its directors brilliantly reconstructs the events of a couple in crisis in the mysterious forests of Montserrat. Local folk horror with room for humor as well.

CAROUSHELL 2the Steve Rudzinski (2021)

National Premiere View Trailer

Duke is back and improves on the first installment in almost every possible way. In this second part, our favorite fairground unicorn will meet his creators and learn about his paternity.

In addition, we will also have the following special sessions:

CUTRECON vs B-RETINA: Film battle between Madrid’s Cutrecon Guest Festival and the B-Retina Festival, with screenings of Alberto De Martino’s Puma-Man (1980). View Trailer VS Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD the Lloyd Kaufman, Michael Herz (1990) View Tráiler

Friday 16/09/2022

Puma-Man: Another chance to see the great Donald Pleasance, who said that Puma-Man was the worst film of his career; well, Donald has several gems worthy of comment. No matter, Puma-Man is another one of those Italian-style reinterpretations with very little budget but a lot of art?

Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD: One of our favorite superheroes. This Troma gem is non-stop: shootings, ninjas, fights, fine humor, very bad bad guys and the best superpowers to fight them.

Journey to the beyond with the presence of Sebastià d’Arbó and presentation of the book Viaje al más allá (Editorial Applehead).

Free morning session – Saturday 17/09/2022

Tribute session to Sebastià d’Arbó with the screening of the debut feature film of his trilogy on parapsychology and the occult. Reference film that captured phenomena such as exorcisms, paranormal phenomena, spiritism and terrifying experiences. And thanks to Applehead Team the book will be presented. 40 años de Viaje al más allá, a reference work that contains the reprint of the book La verdadera historia del Viaje al más allá, written by D’Arbó himself in 1987, and, on the other hand, Diego Peñalver’s tribute to the film.

Finally, on Sunday, September 18, there will be the traditional Free Children’s Morning Session and in the afternoon, as a climax, our acclaimed International Short Film Competition, with a prize of 500 euros for the winning entry.
